Your challenge

EpidM and the research line ‘Measurement’ are looking for a postdoc who will develop and teach a course in Item Response Theory (IRT) for the measurement of health outcomes. Topics of the course will include the basic principles of IRT versus Classical Test Theory, IRT models and analyses, Differential Item Functioning, Computerized Adaptive Testing (CAT), and (longitudinal) IRT analyses of epidemiological data.

In addition to developing and teaching the IRT course, the postdoc will collaborate with researchers in and outside of the ‘Measurement’ group, on the validation and implementation of the Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS), an international, innovative measurement system for measuring generic aspects of self-reported health, consisting of IRT-based item banks that are being used as short forms and CATs. We collaborate with a large number of clinical and research departments in the Netherlands and Flanders to validate and implement PROMIS in the Netherlands and Flanders.

The tasks of the postdoc will be to develop and teach the EpidM IRT course, perform and publish psychometric studies on existing PROMIS data, optimize psychometric analysis methods, and support other researchers with psychometric analyses. Writing grant proposals for new psychometric research is also an option.
