Statistician Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacology
Applications are invited for a 3-year full-time statistician position at the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacology, University Medical Center Groningen starting from 1 May 2026.
Clinical research within the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacology focuses on personalized medicine for the treatment of renal and cardiovascular complications of type 2 diabetes. Principal investigators within the department are involved in numerous clinical trials and large cohort studies aimed to develop new methods of tailoring medications using biomarker-based approaches and improve clinical trial designs by integrating novel methodological techniques.
To support ongoing research and clinical trials the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacology has a position available for a 3-year full time data-analyst / statistician. The statistician is expected to:

You will be working in an energetic and enthusiastic team of more than 30 researchers from diverse backgrounds. The group has an extensive network, both nationally and internationally.
The candidate will have an appointment at the Department of Pharmacy and Pharmacology of the University Medical Center Groningen.
We are looking for an enthusiastic data-analyst / statistician who can independently conduct basic and preferably advanced bio-statistical analyses. The applicant holds a Master’s degree, or equivalent and has experience in statistical analyses of bio-medical data. The candidate has knowledge and experience with statistical software including R and SAS. Experience with genetic and proteomic analysis of large databases is an advantage.
We expect the candidate to demonstrate professional competence and to be conscientious and efficient in meeting commitments, observing deadlines and achieving results. The candidate ideally has experience with quantitative research, data analysis, ICT developments in the medical sector, and is proficient in English writing.
Candidates who have (almost) completed a Master degree in biostatistics, bioinformatics or related fields are invited to respond.
The University Medical Center Groningen offers a salary of at least € 3.430,- (salary scale 8) gross per month depending on years of work-experience. You will first be appointed for a period of 12 months. After a positive evaluation, the contract will be extended for the remaining part of the project. Additionally, the UMCG offers an 8% holiday allowance, an 8.3% year-end bonus.The conditions of employment comply with the Collective Labour Agreement for Medical Centres (CAO-UMC).
Intended starting date: May 1 2026.
