What you are going to do

Our research group has a vacancy for an enthusiastic and motivated Research Technician. We work on the development of a gene therapy for the durable control and possibly even a cure of HIV infection. We do so using different approaches, ranging from an attack on HIV RNA with RNA-interference or HIV DNA with CRISPR-Cas technology. In addition, we try novel methods to prevent HIV entry into host cells.

The successful candidate will work on projects aimed at developing innovative gene therapy protocols for the control of HIV infection. The candidates will support the team in molecular and cellular biology, viral vector production and maintenance of cell cultures. The work includes cloning, PCR, DNA sequencing, Western/Northem blots, ELISAs, luciferase assays, human cell culture, Flow cytometry, etc. The work will – after internal training – involve HIV infection experiments in the ML3 Biosafety laboratory.

What we expect from you

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic candidate with affinity for Biotechnology and Infectious Diseases, who is in possession of at least a HLO-diploma. Experience in molecular biology and cell culture is required and experience with Flow Cytometry, viral vector production and viral transduction would be also appreciated. We are seeking a candidate who is a flexible team player, but who can also work independently, with good communication skills in English and feel comfortable in an dynamic and international environment. We are looking for a high energy multi-tasker, creative and good at problem-solving as well as organized. The successful candidate will document and report the results in a concise manner and contribute to the optimization of protocols.
