Eurotransplant is an international organ-exchange organization (OEO) allocating solid organs to listed patients from 8 European member countries: Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Germany, Hungary, Luxemburg, the Netherlands, and Slovenia. The Eurotransplant region includes a population of approx. 135 million people and is the largest OEO in Europe.

Stakeholders in the organ-exchange process include transplant physicians, surgeons, anesthesiologists, and intensive care doctors, transplant coordinators, transplant nurses and allied health professionals, transplant ethicists, transplant centers, donor hospitals, tissue-typing laboratories, scientific and professional national transplant societies, and national competent authorities.

General director

Based at the Head office of Eurotransplant in Leiden, the Netherlands.

About the role

We are looking for a General Director who will carry the final responsibility for the day-to-day business and general development of IT, Finance, HR, Communication, and Project Management, including IT and GDPR legislation. 

Further responsibilities include:

• Complying with the mission, vision and core values of Eurotransplant as lead down in the Articles of Association and the Basic Mandate
• Chairing the Board of Management, collaborating and consulting with the medical director as an equal statutory partner in the Board of Directors.
• Overlooking the functions and projects of the different members of the management team and quality control in the organization
• Holding open and regular meetings with the works council
• Representing Eurotransplant towards its stakeholders regarding all business and political aspects of her/his portfolio. The General Director has a specific international role regarding finance and legal issues

About you

• Completed academic degree in business management
• Ideally substantial former experience in the field of medicine / organ transplantation with former knowledge of the Eurotransplant governance structure and decision making processes
• Specialized expertise in the fields of finance, IT, legal, project management and quality control
• Team player with strong social skills
• Motivating and inspirational with an open and communicative attitude
• Experienced in representing an organization at international conferences and meetings
• Experienced in change management
• Fluency in English and preferentially German
• Preferentially from Dutch nationality or residing in The Netherlands with good knowledge of national legislation in The Netherlands.
