Intro

The Amsterdam UMC imaging, flow cytometry, and omics core facilities enable scientific breakthroughs by many scientists. We are creating a data and compute hub to coordinate and serve the growing importance of the FAIR data movement in recording, reusing, combining and analyzing scientific data.

Wat ga je doen?

You will join a integrated data & compute team, consisting of field experts, data stewards and HPC engineers, to facilitate the storage, processing, integration and sharing of scientific research data according to the FAIR principles. You will work closely with the staff of the imaging, flow cytometry,  &and omics core facilities (genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, flow cytometry, and imaging) and develop tools & resources to enable data integration for multi-omics and AI-based research. Initially you will focus on challenges in the domains of flow cytometry and imaging. Specific tasks include:

  • Develop specific imaging, flow cytometry, and omics core facility procedures for FAIR data management.
  • Develop local data and metadata storage resources and FAIR management solutions, based on community standards, established CF best practices and RDM compliance.
  • Exchange knowledge and experience with local and central data stewards, as well as with national data stewards working at core facilities of other UMCs.
  • Work with the researchers and core facility operators to make datasets “AI-ready”, also enable integration of data sets from different CFs for (AI-driven) data analysis.

Wat neem je mee?

  • You have a completed a PhD or MSc and ideally have experience as a researcher.
  • You have knowledge of and experience with collecting, managing and/or analyzing imaging, flow cytometry, and omics CF related data.
  • You have knowledge of research data management and the FAIR principles.
  • You have experience working with community metadata standards, formats and ontologies.
  • You have knowledge and experience with database design and management.
  • You have an affinity with biomedical scientific research, preferably with large and diverse research data sets.
  • You have knowledge related to data sharing and publishing.
  • You have excellent social, communication and advisory skills.
  • You have a service and quality-oriented attitude.

Wat bieden we jou?

  • A one-year contract with the prospect of a permanent contract.
  • In addition to a good basic salary, you will receive 8.3% end-of-year bonus and 8% vacation allowance. Calculate your net salary here. Salary scale will be dependent on the candidate qualifications.
  • Free and unlimited access to our online learning environment GoodHabitz.
  • Pension accrual with ABP, of which we pay 70% of the premium.
  • (Partial) reimbursement of your public transport expenses. Do you prefer to come by bike? Then we have a good bicycle scheme.
  • An active staff association and Young Amsterdam UMC association, both of which organize fun (sports) activities, and events.

Waar ga je werken?

The imaging, flow cytometry, and omics Core Facilites (genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, flow cytometry, and imaging) of the Amsterdam UMC are working together to expand their team of data & compute experts to facilitate the storage, processing, integration and sharing of scientific research data to enable data integration for multi omics and AI based research. CF data (FAIR and AVG compliant) and a High-Performance Computing (HPC) Hub for all CF data will be integrated, enabling pipelines and developing harmonized FAIR data policies for the Amsterdam UMC life scientists. Our services and resources serve as a solid foundation to provide well defined and connected imaging, flow cytometry, and omics data sets for research and to provide access to vast amounts of data for AI-driven research

The goals of this project include the 1) Harmonized FAIR data management of the CFs for data integration, standardization, and annotation; 2) Creation of a data sharing infrastructure and pipelines to enable controlled access to data generated by the Amsterdam UMC CFs; 3) Enable the combination of datasets from different CFs for data analysis and AI modelling; and 4) Provide an integrated data management and computing resource to all CF users to establish & secure the knowledge including scripts, software, and data analysis pipelines. Integrating data from imaging, flow cytometry, and omics core facilities will catalyze innovations with cost efficient services for researchers and enhance the visibility of Amsterdam UMC in the Dutch and European research infrastructure landscape.
